Where learning is active, hands-on, and deeply connected to the world around them.
Program Structure
Tiny Oaks Montessori has 3 distinct classes of mixed ages:
Parent-Child Program Primary Classroom Elementary Classroom
Dr. Maria Montessori understood that children develop through distinct planes of development, each with unique characteristics, needs, sensitivities, and potentials. By recognizing and respecting these developmental stages, we are able to provide learning environments and experiences that nurture the whole child at the right time in their growth.
The first plane of development, spanning from birth to six years old, is a period of especially rapid transformation and is therefore further divided into two important sub-planes: Birth–3 Years and 3–6 Years.
First Plane of Development (Birth–6 Years)
Dr. Maria Montessori identified the first six years of life as a period of extraordinary growth and learning. During this stage, children naturally absorb information from their environment through exploration, movement, sensory experiences, and meaningful interactions. This forms the foundation for the development of independence, language, coordination, order, concentration, and social awareness.
Parent-Child Program (Birth–3 Years)
For children from birth to three years old, we offer a parent-child style environment that emphasizes connection, security, guided exploration, and support for early developmental milestones. Learning during this stage is grounded in close interaction with a parent or caregiver as children begin to explore the world around them. At the same time, parents gain insight into child development and supportive guidance for fostering independence, confidence, and connection during the earliest years of life.
Primary Classroom (3–6 Years)
For children ages three to six, we provide a Montessori primary classroom designed to foster growing independence, purposeful work, concentration, social collaboration, and hands-on learning experiences. Children in this stage refine language, movement, problem-solving, and practical life skills while developing confidence and a love of learning within a carefully prepared environment.
Second Plane of Development: Elementary Classroom (6–12 Years)
The second plane of development is marked by expanding reasoning abilities, imagination, curiosity, and social awareness. During this stage, children begin thinking more abstractly, asking deeper questions about the world, collaborating with peers, and seeking greater intellectual independence and moral understanding.
Our elementary environment for ages six to twelve supports this important stage through collaborative learning, exploration, critical thinking, and meaningful real-world connections. Students are encouraged to pursue curiosity, develop responsibility, and grow into thoughtful, capable members of their community.
